    Parent Educator DHS

    The Latino Community Development Agency (LCDA) is looking for hard-working, creative, and dedicated individuals to join our agency and become integral parts of their team. Under the supervision of the of the Parent’s assistance Coordinator, the Parent Educator is responsible for conducting intakes, assessments, parenting classes and individual counseling to families referred by DHS and provide linkage with needed community resources to children and their families. The Parent educator ensures that all documentation is in compliance with DHS guidelines. Position provides parenting classes and case management to parents/caregivers referred by the Department of Human Services (DHS).

    Position Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or
      related behavioral science field and (1) year experience. 
    • Must display proficiency in the MS Word processing
      software and intermediate general computer skills. 
    • Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with English/Spanish speaking consumers. 
    • Casual professional dress is required.
    • Local travel required.
    • Must possess and provide verification of valid
      Oklahoma driver’s license during employment with LCDA. 
    • Must maintain and provide verification of current automobile
      liability insurance including uninsured motorist coverage. 
    • Must have and/or complete the Parenting Curriculum Training, the Compassion Curriculum training, the suicide training, and Trauma training within 60 days of employment with LCDA. 
    • Must have TB test.
    • Must possess and maintain current licensure.
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs, move within
      the facility freely, sit for extended periods and lift 30 pounds.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Conducts intakes for individuals referred to the program by DHS.
    • Facilitates parenting group to families referred by DHS.
    • Maintains records in a timely manner as required by agency, state or federal funding sources and accreditation authorities. Completes all required forms and maintain same in a manner consistent with requirements. Document all activities directly or indirectly related to serving youth, adults and families in the program on a daily basis.
    • On a bi-monthly basis, participates in the staffing
      of current case-load cases with supervisor.
    • Maintains proper documentation and records on file and
      ensures confidentiality of all personally identifiable information.
    • Report any issues of concern to Supervisor and/or Director of Programs.
    • Maintains contact with DHS Case Workers.
    • Submit Letters of Client’s progress to DHS Case Workers and Probation Officers.
    • Submits progress notes by Tuesdays at noon.
    • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling to accommodate client
      needs for evening appointments. Return phone calls, text
      messages promptly. Checks and responds to emails daily.
    • Abides by agency policy and program procedures at all times.
    • Performs other duties consistent with training and experience.

    Job Types: Part-time, Exempt

    Schedule:

    • Varied, may include evenings

    COVID-19 considerations:
    All employees are required to wear a mask while
    in the building except for when in a single office space.
