    Bilingual Victims Advocate

    The Latino Community Development Agency (LCDA) is actively looking for hard working, creative, and dedicated individuals to join our agency and become integral parts of their team. Under the supervision of the DV Coordinator, the Victim Advocate will provide case management, advocacy, and appropriate services to victims of domestic violence.

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor’s or associate degree in psychology or related field.
    • Flexible and knowledgeable of the community.
    • Possess a high degree of creativity, ingenuity, and self-motivation.
    • Problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, and
      the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Participate in ongoing training to successfully serve Hispanic American Victims of domestic violence/dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking
    • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services for Hispanic victims of domestic violence/dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking
    • Provide bilingual English/Spanish crisis intervention services
    • Assess risk and lethality factors of individuals served
    • Develop an individual safety plan with the client’s participation
    • Maintain documentation required by the program up to date
    • Maintain a directory of local resources up to date
    • Provide referrals as needed by victims of DV/SV and stalking
    • Provide emergency transportation, when safe to do so, and resources are available
    • Assist victims with legal and law enforcement measures designed to ensure victims’ protection, such as police reports, VPO, VINE, or court
    • Provide follow up case management services that include developing a service plan in collaboration with the client that focuses on individual safety and other needs
    • Conduct Latinas Unidas, a culturally and linguistically appropriate education and support group, for victims and survivors of DV/SV and stalking that focuses on personal safety, the dynamics of violence in the Hispanic community, and learning about healthy living and healthy relationships
    • Be responsible for programmatic activities outlined in the contract
    • Attend monthly staff meetings and consult with supervisor regarding any and all cases that require decisions not addressed by policy and procedures
    • Participate in the local community’s Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)
    • Perform domestic violence and sexual assault community outreach presentations throughout the year
    • Respond to the domestic violence hotline on the dates assigned
    • Collaborate in other duties as assigned by supervisor

    Skills & Abilities

    • The bilingual Victims Advocate must demonstrate good interpersonal skills
    • The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with English / Spanish speaking consumers
    • Will have previous experience working in a community setting
    • Organizational and leadership skills
    • Commitment to teamwork.

    Additional Requirements

    • Must possess and provide verification of valid Oklahoma driver’s license during employment with LCDA.
    • Must maintain and provide verification of current automobile liability insurance including uninsured motorist coverage.
    • Must have a TB test.
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs, move within the facility freely, sit for extended periods, and lift 30 pounds.

    Job Types: Full-Time, Part-Time, Hourly Exempt

    COVID-19 considerations:
    All employees are required to wear a mask while in the building except for when in a single office space.
