    Job Description
    Are you an organized and positive leader and experienced in youth programs? We are looking for a Thunder ambassador to lead youth basketball camps and clinics across the state and region. You will use the power of the Thunder identity to stimulate a love for basketball in fan families, inspire affinity towards the Thunder and seek to unite the regional basketball community behind common principles and values. You will provide leadership to a team of part-time employees, ensuring all reflect the attributes and pillars of our brand philosophy, including strong character, togetherness and hard work.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    ·       Lead, develop and execute the strategic vision and plan for the youth basketball program, including Jr. NBA league initiatives, Thunder Fit, Thunder Rookies and other community relations events, as well as paid youth camps, clinics and any other pertinent programs
    ·       Build and maintain regional contacts relative to the basketball environment and facilitate data collection to drive other business programs
    ·       Actively establish, maintain and grow partnerships with venue management and operators, coaches and administrators in Oklahoma and the Thunder’s five-state television viewing area
    ·       Work cross-departmentally to execute youth basketball events to improve reach
    ·       Develop new programming when applicable
    ·       Recruit, motivate and supervise part-time coaches and associates, and ensure all staff adhere to designed curriculum and methodology
    ·       Effectively demonstrate curriculum and provide a keynote address at events to outline the purpose of our involvement and encourage participants to learn, compete and grow
    ·       Run a professional and engaging experience for basketball camp participants and their families from registration to check-out
    ·       Oversee all aspects of camps including equipment, setup, signage, check-in/out and interaction between coaches, campers and parents
    ·       Assist with facilitation of the YMCA Thunder Basketball League, including website updates, branch relationship building, volunteer coaches’ clinics, etc.
    ·       Provide insight to cultivate and support fans interacting through the programs
    ·       Coordinate fan development programs for community groups including Thunder Fit, clinics at court dedications, and health programming as it pertains to corporate partnership opportunities
    ·       Continually audit competitors and seek practices to evolve the program
    ·       Craft, edit and maintain content for coaching manuals, instructional videos, etc.
    ·       Source and secure promotional items and maintain equipment and participant package inventory
    ·       Support budget resource allocation and expense management
    ·       Maintain good attendance and punctuality
    ·       Other duties as assigned
     
    Qualifications and Requirements:
    ·       Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work or military experience preferred
    ·       Accomplished participant in the game of basketball
    ·       Experience with youth-centered organizations and programs and knowledge of youth basketball culture and local laws/rules related to interaction with minors
    ·       Consistent track record of providing direction and workflow for programming
    ·       Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with the ability to connect with people across demographics
    ·       Experienced public speaking skills with a voice that can carry over class noise
    ·       Organized and able to filter numerous influences to make sound decisions in support of the organizational mission
    ·       Work quickly, efficiently, and accurately under pressure
    ·       Demonstrate respect and a courteous manner
    ·       Bi-lingual is an asset
    ·       Physical requirements of the job may include moving, pushing, pulling, and lifting 40 pounds or more and working outdoor events in adverse weather conditions
    ·       Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
    ·       Willing to work a schedule that will include office hours as well as evenings, weekends and holidays
     
    This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Manager, Youth Basketball Programs.
