    Job Description
    Would you like to earn college credit while you gain firsthand experience in a communications career?  Bring your dream to work in professional sports public relations or communications to our team at The Oklahoma City Thunder.  As an intern you will support the Oklahoma City Thunder corporate communications department as we reach out to our fans, local, national and international.  You will help to broaden the team’s impact by communicating the marketing, sales, community relations and business messages across all media. As the intern, you will assist with telling the story of our brand and learn to work with multiple departments to fulfill internal communications requests.
    Our internship program offers experience in a professional workplace and includes supplemental program activities such as learning lunches and resume review to help enrich your learning experience.  This 8-week internship begins June 10, 2019.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    ·      Support all projects of the Corporate Communications team, including media outreach and monitoring
    ·      Build a strong familiarity with and understanding of Thunder culture and communication strategy and assist with projects to tell our brand story, promote activations, company initiatives and consistently portray a professional voice.
    ·      Assist with pitching stories to news media
    ·      Manage the Thunder memorabilia archive
    ·      Help maintain databases related to media contacts and news mentions
    ·      Help archive press clippings, photos and other materials
    ·      Create authorized game-day credentials to media and other guests
    ·      Consistently participate in intern monthly activities and lunch-and-learns scheduled by human resources
    ·      Maintain good punctuality and attendance
    ·      Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications and Requirements:
    ·      Presently enrolled in an accredited college or university with junior or senior level standing and approved by your school to receive course credit for the internship
    ·      Students pursuing a degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field preferred
    ·      Strong communication skills including creative writing and grammatical excellence
    ·      Self-starter who is also a dedicated teammate
    ·      Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook
    ·      Working knowledge of NBA/basketball is a plus
    ·      Physical requirements of the job include bending and moderate lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and though this is primarily an office job, some in-arena work is included with loud music and crowd noise and flashing or strobe lighting
    ·      Work schedule will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
    ·      Hours will be flexible depending on credit requirements but will not exceed 30 hours a week
    This is a part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications.
