    Job Description
    Would you like to earn college credit while you gain firsthand experience in a fun and professional working environment? If you have the desire to work in a community service, event planning or social responsibility career, join us at The Oklahoma City Thunder this season! As an intern, you will provide administrative support for the Community Relations (CR) department and coordinate a variety of activities such as charitable donations, development of relationships with community partners and beneficiaries, and event planning and execution. We offer hands-on experience working in a dynamic and professional workplace. We are seeking two department interns to begin August 24, 2020 and work 15-20 hours per week.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate and fulfill community requests including donation and appearance requests
    • Enter and update donations and item inventory in Excel database
    • Make phone calls regularly to confirm appearances, ticket donations and event details
    • Help to organize Thunder Fit Clinics and assist with Reading Time Outs and Rolling Thunder Book Bus visits at schools as needed
    • Maintain Thunder educational programs’ mailings and database upkeep
    • Assist in game-night activities including auctions, raffles, and fundraisers, and helping with special player appearance opportunities in the arena
    • Collaborate with members of CR and other departments to plan and implement event details including set-up, event check-in, guest communication and logistics, and post-event cleanup
    • Load the department van with event supplies and drive it to and from various event locations
    • Help with maintenance of supplies and inventory at arena and off-site storage
    • Participate consistently in monthly intern program activities and lunch-and-learn opportunities
    • Maintain good attendance and punctuality
    • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications and Requirements:
    • Presently enrolled in an accredited college or university with junior or senior level standing and approved by your school to receive course credit for the internship
    • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
    • Strong attention to detail and desire to follow a project through to completion
    • Self-starter who is also comfortable with team collaboration and supervision
    • Display a friendly demeanor and work inclusively with people of all demographics
    • Outgoing personality to cultivate relationships cross-departmentally
    • Organization and time management skills to successfully prioritize and complete projects
    • Strong communication: oral, written and listening skills
    • Physical requirements of the job include driving, bending, walking or standing for extended periods and lifting items up to 50 pounds
    • Work environment will include in-arena activities which may include loud music, crowd noise, flashing or strobe lighting; some work outdoors in extreme temperatures required
    • Work schedule will include office hours plus events and game night work during evenings, weekends and holidays
    This is a part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Community Relations Events Manager and Community Relations Programs Manager.
