    Job Description

    Are you interested in working in the professional sports industry, public relations or communications? We are seeking people just like you to join our team! This part-time position is a rare entry-level opportunity to work in the dynamic environment of professional sports. As a Basketball Communications Game Night Representative, you will assist the media and the Thunder’s Basketball Communications staff during the 2019-20 NBA season.


    This position will commence in September and run through the duration of the NBA season. Representatives will be expected to work a majority of Thunder home games throughout the season in addition to assisting with a variety of other projects on non-game days.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    ·         Supervise the Thunder press room before, during and after home games

    ·         Obtain and transcribe quotes from players and coaches following the game

    ·         Distribute in-game statistics to media during time-outs and at the conclusion of each quarter

    ·         Assist local and national media with questions or inquiries according to company policies

    ·         Attend various press conferences and transcribe select media events during the season

    ·         Assist with game-day arena setup, requiring availability from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on game day

    ·         Assemble media and visiting team packets and drop off media information/credentials to visiting team hotels on the day prior to a home game

    ·         Maintain good attendance and punctuality

    ·         Other duties as assigned


    Qualifications and Requirements:

    ·         Minimum age requirement, 18 years

    ·         Desire to pursue a career in public relations/professional sports

    ·         General knowledge of the National Basketball Association and the Oklahoma City Thunder

    ·         Strong attention to detail and desire to complete tasks with excellence

    ·         Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

    ·         Self-motivated and ambitious

    ·         Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

    ·         Ability to maintain a schedule that includes 30+ home games including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the 2019-2020 NBA season

    ·         Primary work location will be the Chesapeake Energy Arena and the Thunder ION in Oklahoma City

    ·         Physical requirements of the job include walking and traverse in-arena stairs, and work environment will include loud in-arena music and crowd noise and flashing lights
